Painting the Portrait
with Alfredo Tofanelli
Aug 6-7, 2016
Hours: 9am-4pm

Beginning with an overview of the structure of the human head and figure, students will go through quick exercises designed to help rapidly lay in big shapes of light and shadow accentuating form. This workshop will focus on capturing the patterns of light as it cascades across the human form while working from the live, clothed model. Through demonstrations and painting exercises the student will quickly advance from simple two color oil sketches of the head to more developed poses with an emphasis on composition, proportions, color, value and edges.
